Easter Service at Church
Thu 26 Mar 2026Easter Service at Church
'He is not here; He has risen!'
We celebrated the most important date in our school calendar today with our Church service to mark Easter. We recognised the sacrifices Jesus made for us and celebrated his resurrection so that we could live our lives through the guidance and blessings of God. All classes performed an Easter song, there were readings and prayers and a drama performance of the Easter story, brought to us by Year 4. We wish you all a peaceful Easter.

Children from Years 3 & 4 were proud to be selected to represent the London Borough of Hackney and the London School Games. Children competed in the New Age Kurling (not to be confused with Curling!) competition at Redbridge Sports Centre on Thursday 19th March. A whopping 17 different boroughs took part and although we did not win, our children were great sportspeople and amazing ambassadors for Hackney and our school. Well done to all who took part, we are so proud of you and your achievements!

Memorial Service - KS1 & 2
Tue 17 Mar 2026KS2 Memorial Service
On Tuesday 17th March 2026, Rev. Andrew led Key Stage One children in a memorial service to remember their loved ones who are sadly, no longer with us (he also did the same for KS2 in February). Children were supported and guided to light candles in memory of their special people and prayers were said, asking God to give us strength and comfort when we miss our loved ones and to hold on to our precious memories. We also thought about how we support our friends when they are experiencing sad and difficult times, especially in times of loss. Photos are included below for both KS1 and KS2 services.

Science Week
Fri 13 Mar 2026Science Week
Curiosity - What is your question?
This was the topic for our Science week. Over the past five days, children looked at how things work, conducted experiments and investigated AI within sustainability. To end the week, children held a sale in the KS2 playground, showcasing items that they made throughout Science week. Our children combined their Scientific and DT skills to make squeezy toys, ceramic coasters, no sew bows, candle holders, fridge magnets, bracelets and even lip balm! We hope you were able to come and see (and maybe even buy) the amazing things that the children made. You can see from what they made, the children were scientifically inspired this week. Have a look at our photographs from the day.

World Book Day
Thu 05 Mar 2026World Book Day
We love reading here at SPSM (just take a look at our wonderful book corners!) and we celebrate World Book Day (WBD) each year - 2026 was no exception! There were no uniforms worn to school today, instead we thought about our favourite characters from our most loved books and authors and recreated these characters through creative costumes. Take a look at the photos from the day, which characters do you recognise? Perhaps our wonderful WBD celebration will inspire you to love reading too!

Christmas Service at Church
Fri 19 Dec 2025Christmas Service at Church
Thank you to everyone who took part in, hosted and came to support us in our Christmas Service at St Michael and All Angels Church today. This was a service to celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ and as we do each year, we observed this through readings, prayers and carols. A special mention must be made for Early Years who recreated the Christmas story through drama. Thank you for reminding us of how and why this time of year is so special. We wish you all a peaceful and Happy Christmas!

A Visit From Santa!
Thu 18 Dec 2025Santa Claus is Coming to Town!
Santa did come to town but he stopped off at SPSM before he went on his way around the rest of London. Dropping of his sleigh and trusty reindeers for a carrot, a drink of water and a rest, the man in red visited classes to share a 'Ho, Ho, Ho' and a 'Merry Christmas' to all. Helped by his (naughty or nice) elf, Santa gave out some presents before picking up his sack and flying off. Did you see him? If you were not lucky enough to catch a glimpse, SPSM managed to snap a few photos of the legend. Take a look. Happy Christmas!
