Spanish – Hope for bright futures!
Bienvenido a St.Paul’s with St.Michael’s! We are a diverse school, which embraces all cultures, beliefs and languages. Spanish harnesses these firm foundations and aims to support the understanding and importance of learning a new language as a way of creating cross-cultural friendship’s, broadening career opportunities, inspiring travel opportunities and seeing the world from a different perspective.
Spanish is taught formally from Y3 – 6 and in simple class routines for EYFS and KS1. Spanish is often loud and active, involving lots of singing, games and actions! Topics are covered using immersion into key vocabulary, basic phonics, sentence structures and grammar. There is an emphasis on developing children’s confidence through speaking and listening; opportunities are given to speak in Spanish, as much as possible within the lessons.
Once a year Hispanic week embraces all things Spanish and involves everything from Hispanic parent visits, to cooking and even some Flamenco!
