PE
PE
Here at SPSM our PE offer incorporates a variety of curricular and extra-curricular school sporting activities. These activities support the needs of all children, ensuring an inclusive understanding of children who require additional support or those who show talent in sport. We deliver high quality PE lessons, delivered weekly by specialists as well as class teacher taught lessons so that children's skills are observed by the class teacher in their entirety. We strive to ensure that children develop confidence, tolerance, team work skills and an understanding of health and wellbeing. Children also experience new, fun and exciting exciting experiences such as archery and rugby.
We constantly review and implement new, healthy initiatives as well as working collaboratively with external organisations to give our children sporting experiences that they may not ordinarily be able to access. We place huge emphasis on sporting competitions (national and boroughwide) which develops resilience and perseverance as well as harnessing talents waiting to be discovered! Our successes are available for all to see in our well filled trophy cabinet and we are proud to have achieved the Gold Status School award for sports.
Sports Premium Funding 2022 - 2023
Sports Premium Funding enables us to enter more competitive sports within the community and we endeavour to offer opportunities to further develop leadership and coaching skills. We use PE as a tool to develop sportsmanship, challenge and endurance - each child being valued for trying their best. We strongly believe that there is a link between a child's healthy body and their ability to learn. In light of this, we design and deliver a range of opportunities that have a positive influence on concentration, attitude to learning and social skills. We will sustain the improvements that this additional funding allows us by maintaining our current provision and further supporting Government initiatives for healthy lifestyles and by using physical activity as a vehicle, we will enable all young people and adults at SPSM to embrace, establish, enjoy and maintain positive lifelong physical health and habits.
