RE

RE

At St Paul's wit St Michael's CE Primary School we expect our children to develop and apply our Christian Values and beliefs throughout their lives, whilst at the same time, respecting, gaining knowledge and appreciations of other world faiths.  Our RE curriculum equips our children to hold balanced and well-informed conversations about religion and world views, as well as, articulate their personal religious beliefs and experiences

  • At the beginning of every new term, we teach a lesson exploring the Christian Value scripture for that specific term and discuss how we can demonstrate this value in our everyday lives
  • Each term, we explore a 'big question' about Christianity or a world faith, in which we teach and encourage our children to ask deep and meaningful questions, become critical thinkers and make connections with other world faiths, their personal experiences and the wider world
  • RE lessons reflect a range of activities and tasks, including debate, role play, art, music, reading scriptures and other texts, retelling of a story, writing in the perspective of a character and so on
  • In the Foundation Stage, our children learn about Christianity and RE is taught through topics based upon children's own lives and their own experiences
  • In Key Stage 1, children learn about Christianity, Judaism and Islam
  • In Key Stage 2, the study of Christianity, Judaism and Islam are developed further.  Hinduism, Buddhism and Sikhism are also explored
