Health of your Child

 

Our Learning Support Assistants and Dinner Supervisors play an important part in the life of the school.

Should your child feel unwell or be involved in an accident, one of our assistants will look after him or her and contact you if necessary.

It is essential that we have a number where we can contact you, or a relative, or a friend during the day.

Should you change your phone number or address, please contact us so that we can keep our records up to date.

If your child is absent from school due to illness, it is important that you let us know. If your child is suffering from an infectious disease it is imperative that you contact the school with this information.

If your child has an attack of diarrhoea or sickness we would like you to keep him/her away from school for 48 hours, as ‘bugs’ of this nature are passed on quickly.

Medicines

Children should not bring medicines to school. Special arrangements may be made with the consent of the Head Teacher for children who have chronic illness or need prescribed medications i.e. asthma, diabetes, sicklecell, or for prescribed antibiotics etc. Inhalers must be clearly labelled and kept in a secure box in the child's classroom. Medicines will never be kept in classrooms.

Medicals

Medical examinations are held, if requested by a child’s parent or teacher; for new entrants; before a child goes on a school journey; or as a follow-up to previous medicals. Parents are informed of the date and time of their child’s medical and it is important that parents attend. Any medical information relevant to the care of your child should be available in the school in case of emergency.

School Nurse

The is a nurse assigned to the school who will routinely screen children’s sight and hearing. S/he is in school on a regular basis. Appointments with the school doctor are made when necessary and parents are informed so they can accompany their child
