  • Howard Rose Visits SPSM

Mon 28 Apr 2025 Emma Murray

    A Visit From Howard Rose

We were delighted to welcome Howard Rose to SPSM today.  Some of you might know him from the BBC music programme, 'The Voice'.  Of course, Howard is well known for being a finalist in the music competition and we were excited that he gave up some of his time to visit us and facilitate a special music assembly.  There will be an opportunity to sign up for after-school music lessons with Howard.  Letters with all the information, including dates and costs for the lessons will be sent home soon.

  • Aurism Acceptance Week

    Autism Acceptance Week (AAW) 2025

This week, we thought about our differences, those we can see and those that are more difficult to see and after our week of special assemblies, workshops and reflection, AAW at SPSM came to a close on Thursday 3rd April 2025 with a spectacular rainbow march.  Each class was allocated a colour representing the spectrum of the rainbow.  This helped us to remember the wide ranging spectrum and amazing world of Autism.  The children all had a wonderful insight into Autism and this came through in their discussions and participations during our special week.  Take a look at the SPSM rainbow that we created during our AAW march.  The photos of our special day are below.

  • Mother Figures Celebration

    Mother Figures Celebration

SPSM held a very special celebration to mark Mothers' Day and to acknowledge all of the important Mother figures in our lives.  Without these special people, we wouldn't be so lucky or well looked after so we took some time out of our normal school day to say 'thank you' to the special ladies in our lives (and give them a well-deserved treat or two)!

  • Topic Dress up Day

    Topic Dress up Day

Each term, each class at SPSM focus on an area of learning for History or Geography which is embedded in our curriculum.  There are lots of different ways in which children learn about our chosen topics, through research, quiz games, timelines, real-life resources and educational visits.  At the end of each term, every class shows off what they have been learning through dressing up to represent their topic.  Take a look at the photos of our latest dress up day.  Can you guess what each class was learning about?

  • Anti-Bullying Week

    Anti-Bullying Week

This week, SPSM held a special week where we thought about our friends and those around us and how our school values encourage us to treat these people with love, respect, kindness and care.  There was also a strong message throughout the week about celebrating our differences.  On Tuesday, we all wore our odd socks which reminded us that even though we are all different, we are all spectacular and unique.  Odd socks day ended with a parade around the school.

  • Cycle Training

    Cycle Training

Cycle training got underway this week for children in Year 6.  Not only did they learn cycling and road safety skills but they also looked at basic bike maintenance and how to keep a bike roadworthy.  All of our children had different starting points and experience in cycling before the training but they all made huge progress.  A big thank you to our two special instructors who made the training extra special with their expert knowledge and encouragement.

  • St Paul's Cathedral Organist Visit

    St Paul's Cathedral Organist Workshops

Today was an extra special day here at SPSM as we welcomed two visitors from St Paul's Cathedral.  Mr Stephenson and Mr Bruce are organ playing and singing experts from the Cathedral and helped us to learn about the range of music that we can hear on an organ (from soothing to triumphant) alongside how to use our voices to compliment this music when we are singing.  Mr Stephenson told us lots of amazing facts about the organ.  It is a little different from a piano with three keyboards which are played with the right hand, the left hand and even the feet (many organists wear special playing shoes)!  The whole school really enjoyed joining in with the music, the workshops and assembly.  Thank you to our visitors!

  • DUCTU Winners

    DUCTU Winners

On Wednesday, the winners of our enterprise competition made a trip to Hobby Craft.  They were not just going shopping but representing SPSM as winners of the 'Hobby Craft Trail Blazer' award.  Last month, each class at SPSM used DUCTU (an organisation which teaches about enterprise and connects schools with employers) to create their own companies and pitch their products and this was recognised via the award.  SPSM won £100 gift voucher for the children to spend in Hobby Craft.  Well done to all!

  • Cinema Trip

Mon 10 Jul 2023 Emma Murray

    Whole School Cinema Trip

As you will be aware, SPSM was again awarded 'Outstanding' by OFSTED this year.  The inspectors commended many things, including our children's love for learning and excellent behaviour.  As a special treat and to say thank you to the staff and children for all their hard work, we all went to Hackney Picture House to watch 'Super Mario Brothers - The Movie'.  Much fun was had (as well as popcorn and refreshments) at a well deserved day out!

    Arcola Theatre

On Thursday 6th July we were very fortunate to welcome actors from the Arcola Theatre to SPSM.  They put on a fantastic performance which linked to previous workshops with Years 3 & 4.
