Black History Month
Black History Month
The theme of Black History Month this year is 'Reclaiming Narritives'. At SPSM we thought about this theme and how we understand, recognise and dispell misconceptions about the narratives of Black culture and history. Children at SPSM marked this special month with dance, poetry, readings and music from Black culture and history. Thank you to everyone who joined in with our celebrations today. We would love you to take a look at our photos of the event. Each class looked at a different aspect of Black history and culture.
Early Years took us on a journey of colour and flair represented by food and Carnival.
Year 1 looked at athletes who have inspired us.
Year 2 celebrated the founders of Black achievements.
Year 3 wowed us with the vibrancy of African drums and dancing.
Year 4 told us the story of Black fashion.
Year 5 looked at political figures who continue to influence and inspire our world.
Year 6 reminded us of the heroes founded the Civil Rights Movement.
