Summer Term 2

Welcome to Year 2.  Our focus for Summer 2 is The Natural World.  This term, children will have access to various books related to our topic.  In Literacy, we will continue explore different stories by the same author.  We will engage in a variety of activities - including role play - to encourage learning.  We will also be looking at non-fiction and studying and writing our own non-chronological reports.  Our focus book will be 'The Hodgeheg' by Dick King-Smith.

In Science, children will learn about living things and their habitats.  They will make investigations about different climates and habitats for different animals - what these animals need for their habitats and how habitats are created.  Through this, children will be able to create a range of questions which will deepen their Scientific thinking.

In Maths we will explore fractions alongside addition and subtraction (bridging to 10).  These new skills will help children to further apply reasoning skills for solving mathematical problems.

In PSHCE, children will be thinking about all the different ways in which we keep ourselves safe and who helps us to do this.
