Early Years Team - Spring Term 1
Dear Parents and Carers,
We hope you all had a lovely Christmas break and thank you all for the kind gifts you gave to the EYFS team, you really warmed our hearts.
Our topic this term is 'Light and Dark'. Please talk to your child about natural and artificial sources of light, nocturnal animals, light sources in religion and shadows. Our Christian Value this term is 'Hope'. The Bible verse the children are learning is:
Psalm 46:1; 'God is our hope and strength, a very present help in trouble'.
Class fund - This term has six weeks; please provide £2 per week for your child (£12 for the half-term or £24 for the whole term). This fund helps us to buy resources for the children to use in school. We will be cooking and taking part in more visits and any money that is left over will go towards our end of year trip.
PE will be on Friday afternoon. Please make sure your child comes to school with the appropriate clothing. Children need to bring black jogging bottoms or leggings, a white t-shirt and trainers (if your child wears tights, please also make sure they have socks in their bag).
Please continue to read each day with your child and support them with their weekly homework. Children will be given a list of 'red words' that they should be able to read and write by the end of Reception. It is useful to read and write the words together each day and have these on display at home in a place your child can easily see them.
Homework is set each Friday and needs to be completed and returned by the following Friday. Book bags are changed every Monday and Friday so it is important that your child brings their book bag to school on these days. Should a book bag be lost, it is important that your provide your child with a replacement as soon as possible. Also, please remember that your child has access to 'Reading Eggs' and 'Mathletics'. Please encourage your child to access these wonderful resources, certificates are given out each week for participation!
We will continue to work on a 'Makaton' sign of the week. You and your child can use these signs in your day-to-day activities.
Important Dates:
- Tuesday 20th January 2026 - Reading Cafe
Thank you for your continued support. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to speak with one of the EYFS team. Kind regards,
Miss Inniss and the EYFS Team
