Reception - Early Years Team

Early Years Team
Parents and Carers - Welcome to the Early Years Team!
We hope that you had a wonderful Summer and your children are ready for all the amazing learning opportunities that they will have this year.
Our topic this term is 'Myself' and we will be talking about ourselves, our families, where we live and the people around us. Please talk to your children about your family members and other important people in their lives.
We would like you to share books with your children each day - this could be part of their bedtime routine. Talk to them about the story and encourage them to predict what might happen next or to look for clues in the pictures. This is an excellent way to encourage your child's listening, attention and speaking skills.
This year is an important year for your child in terms of them gaining more independence so please encourage your child to try to do things for themselves, for instance, getting dressed and undressed and putting on or taking off their own coats and shoes.
Please make sure your child comes to school dressed in the correct uniform and that ALL of your child's belongings have their names on them. They will also need a spare set of clothes to keep in school.

Show and Tell - Your child will be learning a new sound each week. Please support them by bringing in an object / picture relating to the sound of the week. The sound will be displayed on the Reception Class door.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to speak to a member of the team.
Kind regards,
Miss Inniss and Miss Foster (Early Years Team)
