Reception - Early Years Team

Early Years Team - Autumn Term 2

Dear Parents and Carers,

We hope you all had a lovely half-term break, we are so excited by all the events that are happening over this half-term.  Our value of ther term is 'Endurance and our Bible verse is:

Psalm 117:2, 'God's Faithfulness Endures Forever'.

Our topic this term is 'Weather'.  Please talk to your childrne about the weather daily, you could do this whilst walking to school.  Some hints to begin discussions around the weather are:

  • Watch the weather on the television
  • Concentrate on different parts of the UK and the weather in London (children will then be prepared to talk about the weather during our learning in school)
  • Discuss the seasons and the physical changes of the seasons
  • Compare and contrast different weather in different countries, especially if you have had the opportunity to travel

Class fund - Thank you for your contributions so far, the weekly cost is £2 which you can give to Miss Denise (the total cost for Autumn Term 2 is £14).

PE will be on Friday afternoon.  Please make sure your child comes to school with the appropriate clothing.  Children need to bring black jogging bottoms or leggings, a white t-shirt and trainers (if your child wears tights, please also make sure they have socks in their bag).

Please continue to read each day with your child and support them with their weekly homework.  Homework is set each Friday and needs to be completed and returned by the following Friday.  Book bags are changed every Monday and Friday so it is important that your child brings their book bag to school on these days.  Should a book bag be lost, it is important that your provide your child with a replacement as soon as possible.  Also, please remember that your child has access to 'Reading Eggs' and 'Mathletics'.  Please encourage your child to access these wonderful resources, certificates are given out each week for participation!

We will continue to work on a 'Makaton' sign of the week.  You and your child can use these signs in your day-to-day activities.

Other Important Information:

  • Monday 10th November - Odd Socks Day (children to wear odd socks)
  • Tuesday 25th & Wednesday 26th November - Parents' Evening (a sign-up sheet will be displayed on the classroom door)
